Our Infrared Sauna & Ice Bath

Alternate between deep infrared heat and cold water immersion, and your body responds with reduced inflammation, improved circulation, and a surge of endorphins that lasts for hours. This isn't a spa ritual. It's a recovery protocol disguised as one.

Your Body Is Inflamed, Tight, and Running on Empty

Recovery is whatever sleep you manage to scrape together. Your joints ache. Your muscles stay tight no matter how much you stretch. Inflammation sits in your shoulders, your lower back, your knees, and it's not going anywhere because you never give your system a reason to flush it out.

You don't need rest days. You need a physiological reset.

Fire & Ice contrast therapy forces your body to adapt, recover, and recalibrate. Faster than passive rest ever could.

How Fire & Ice Therapy Works

You have a private 60-minute session in our dedicated Fire & Ice room. It contains three recovery tools working in sequence:

1. Infrared Sauna (FIRE)

Step into our full-spectrum infrared cabin. Unlike traditional steam saunas that just heat the air around you, infrared penetrates 1.5 inches into your tissue, reaching muscles, joints, and fascia directly.

The heat dilates blood vessels, increases circulation, and triggers a deep sweat that pulls metabolic waste and toxins out through your skin. Your heart rate elevates slightly (similar to moderate cardio), and your parasympathetic nervous system begins to engage.

You're not just sweating. You're offloading.

Recommended: 15–20 minutes

2. Ice Bath (ICE)

Step out of the heat and lower yourself into our cold plunge pool, held at around 10°C

The cold causes immediate vasoconstriction, blood vessels tighten, pushing blood back toward your core and vital organs. Inflammation markers drop. Your body releases norepinephrine and endorphins (natural painkillers and mood enhancers). The shock is intense, but it passes in 30–60 seconds, replaced by clarity and alertness that feels like someone turned the lights back on.

Recommended: 2–5 minutes (build up over multiple sessions)

3. Red Light Therapy Panel

Our Fire & Ice room includes a medical-grade red light and near-infrared LED panel. You can stand in front of it between rounds or during your sauna session, always wearing the provided eye protection.

Red light (660nm) supports collagen production and skin repair. Near-infrared (850nm) penetrates deeper, supporting cellular energy production and reducing inflammation at a mitochondrial level. It's a passive add-on that compounds the benefits of heat and cold.

Optional: Use throughout your session

Why Fire & Ice Works (And Who It's For)

ï‘‹
For Athletes & Serious Trainers

Contrast therapy has been used by elite athletes for decades because it does what stretching and foam rolling can't: it forces a systemic flush.

When you move from heat (vasodilation) to cold (vasoconstriction) and back again, you're essentially pumping your circulatory system. Blood moves in and out of tissues faster, carrying oxygen and nutrients in, and clearing lactic acid and metabolic waste out.

The result: faster recovery between sessions, reduced delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS), and less cumulative fatigue. You can train harder, more often, without breaking down.


For High-Stress Professionals

If you're running on cortisol and caffeine, Fire & Ice does something most recovery methods don't: it forces a hard physiological reset.

The cold plunge triggers an acute stress response that, paradoxically, teaches your nervous system to regulate itself better. You learn to stay calm under pressure (literally). The endorphin release post-cold is immediate and substantial. Most people describe feeling mentally clear, energized, and emotionally neutral for hours afterward.

It's not meditation. It's recalibration through controlled stress.


For Inflammation, Pain & Long-Term Wellness

Chronic inflammation is at the root of most modern health issues, joint pain, autoimmune conditions, metabolic dysfunction, brain fog. Infrared sauna and cold exposure both independently reduce systemic inflammation. Together, the effect is compounded.

We see people managing arthritis, fibromyalgia, post-surgical recovery, and lingering sports injuries. Fire & Ice is an amazing supportive process that can work alongside existing treatments.

Your First Fire & Ice Session: A Practical Guide

Before you Arrive

Hydrate well in the hours leading up to your session. Eat lightly (a heavy meal beforehand is uncomfortable in the heat).

The Session Structure (You Control the Pace)

You have the room to yourself for 60 minutes. Most people follow this rhythm:

1. Make sure to shower before using the facilities

2. Start with 15–20 minutes in the infrared sauna

3. Step into the ice bath for 2–5 minutes

4. Rest and warm up naturally for 5–10 minutes (use the red light panel here)

5. Repeat the cycle 2–3 times

There's no rigid protocol. If you're new to cold exposure, start with 1–2 minutes and build up. If you prefer longer sauna time and shorter cold, adjust accordingly. The room is yours.

"

After

You'll shower off (facilities in the room). Most people feel a combination of deep physical relaxation and mental alertness, the kind of calm energy that doesn't come from caffeine. You'll likely sleep better that night. Your muscles will feel looser the next morning.

Fire & Ice Contrast Therapy

How cold is the ice bath?

Usually around 10.5°C, or slightly warmer if you're new.

The first plunge is always the hardest. Your body adapts quickly, most people find the second round significantly easier.

Can I share the Fire & Ice room with a friend?

Yes. The room is designed for solo or shared use. It's a popular choice for couples, training partners, or friends who want the experience together.

Check out the Luxurious Package for Two (£195) if you're booking with someone.

Do I have to do the sauna and the ice bath?

No. You can use just the sauna or just the ice bath if you prefer. But the therapeutic benefit comes from the contrast, alternating between heat (vasodilation) and cold (vasoconstriction) creates the circulatory "pump" that flushes inflammation and accelerates recovery.

If you're nervous about the cold, start with one short plunge (1–2 minutes) and build up over multiple sessions.

Your Nervous System Needs This

You've pushed through. You've managed. You've told yourself you'll rest when things slow down. They won't slow down. You have to create the reset yourself.

Fire & Ice gives you a physiological off-switch. Sixty minutes that tell your body it's safe to repair, recover, and let go.
